The Walt Disney Studios encompasses the creation, production, promotion, sales, acquisition and domestic and international distribution of live-action and animated motion pictures, DVD releases, live stage plays, and music and soundtrack recordings.
The Walt Disney Studios (TWDS) is seeking a VP, Analytics Insights to develop a high performance team that will focus on understanding consumer behaviors and measuring the effectiveness of our marketing and promotional efforts in real time. This position will establish and manage a high-visibility analytics insights program responsible for enabling data-driven decision making, and influencing high-impact decisions related to marketing groups across The Walt Disney Studios.
The VP, Analytics Insights will collaboratively partner with Studio Marketing leadership teams and other executives across The Walt Disney Company, as well as external research organizations and the business analyst community. The ideal candidate will have created and led an advanced analytics practice in a fast-moving environment and will be equally comfortable in the trenches, as well as in the boardroom with senior Studio executives. This position requires an enthusiastic advocate of new technologies, with the ability to understand the mature solutions available in the marketplace in order to build a truly world-class analytics organization.
Responsibilities:
Establish TWDS Analytics Insights (AI) practice through the assembly of the right people, processes, tools and technologies
Lead and manage the AI practice to meet the goals of 1) delivering reporting and analytics to support tactical and strategic decision making and 2) providing a competitive differentiator
Draw upon deep product, business, and marketing experience and acumen to scope and execute relevant, focused studies to produce actionable insights, influence decisions and produce tangible results
Assess the effectiveness of Marketing efforts in real time across the entire Studio: Theatrical, Home Entertainment, Music, Stage Entertainment, and the direct-to-consumer businesses
Build and manage a high-impact roadmap in close collaboration with key client organizations
Consistently deliver commitments on time, with high quality and proactively manage client expectations
Accountable for strategy, product development/evolution, project management, as well as back end and front end development and support activities
Develop and maintain solid relationships with senior clients
Act as a leading member of the Company’s global analytics community, establishing means of collaborating in order to achieve goals
Be a strong advocate for the data needs of the team and secure support from partner organizations
Provide support to internal clients in the areas of Metrics/KPI development as needed
Responsible for the support, planning, and evolution of a reporting infrastructure, data warehouse, and reporting database
Desired Skills & Experience
Requirements:
8+ years of experience in quantitative market research / analytics in an online environment, including success at digital marketing and/or technology platform organizations
Proven track record building successful analytics/BI/data sciences solutions
Strong familiarity with statistical tools as well as deep experience working with large datasets
Outstanding communication, critical thinking and presentation skills
Proven ability to design, lead and follow-through on time-sensitive strategic research projects involving goal setting, requirements gathering, methodology development, analysis, strategic recommendations and presentation of findings to senior management
Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage multiple projects
Film studio experience a major plus
An MBA or advanced degree in an analytical field, such as Computer Science, Mathematics or Economics
